The point of a hut traverse is to visit all eight AMC huts in the white mountains in 24 hours. It's a daunting task to say the least. 15k+ of elevation gain and 54 miles. I tried last year and failed with my legs locking up at mile 48 forcing me retire at Greenleaf hut, a scant 6 easy miles from the finish at Lonesome Lake. It was a painful defeat, so close yet so far. I have wanted badly to come back and even the score so when an aquantance, Dave, of Carter wanted to do a traverse, I jumped on. So, here we are, 1am at Carter and about to start.
