Woke up very early this morning to get some photos of the course preparation- 4:30 to be precise! But it was quite amazing to see how much effort goes into the course- especially if it has snowed.
The head of race peers out into the abyss.
So I actually got to go out of the starting gate of the race!!!!! Sooooo cool!
There was about 6" of new snow but underneath was ice. Luckily though, being raised in the east, I had no problem navigating and slipping. And thanks Dad for the nice sharp edges. I used my race edges as it was still pretty steep!
A lot of the austrian troops were pretty shaky skiers so they skipped the steep parts and went to the flat sections.
It was a lot of fun to play with the little light I had- I thought this was one of the coolest photos.
The lights at the finish along with the fog brought out some pretty spectacular effects.
Loading up for the second trip round.
The head of the mouse jump directs his troops.
The first signs of dawn begin to appear.
On my second round I slipped with the ski instructors- and it proved a lot better as they were all (gasp) really good skiers!
